About Nutritional Therapy
Nutrition is the provision of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with the appropriate and healthy diet.
Karen will look at the whole person and not only at the symptoms they present. She goes as far back as childhood and also looks at family history, this may help show a genetic picture. It is her aim to be as supportive to her clients as possible. Changing lifestyles is a journey and it is up to the client how fast or slow their journey is. They will be given the information necessary to make their changes.
Karen has also taught keep-fit for 24 years and where possible advises her clients on an exercise plan that works for them along with the nutritional advice. She also looks at the chemical exposure we face every day and how to go about reducing this.
Recently, Karen has qualified as a Macrobiotic Coach and is introducing this and its natural therapies to her clients to aid their recovery. She has also been teaching cookery to some of her clients, especially sugar free baking and vegetarian cooking to optimise health.
Karen's ultimate goal:
To give clients the information they require to improve their health, prevent disease, and have a long and exuberant life.

What is a consultation like?
Karen will take a full case history at the first appointment and this can take between 1.5 - 2hrs - this depends on each individual case. Karen likes to spend as much time as possible at the first appointment as it can be part of the healing process and usually it is the first time her clients have had the opportunity to get their health concerns off their chest.
Karen will then give you all the information you need to take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle. She will keep in touch and is available between each appointment for any questions you may have.
Before Your First Consultation with Karen
Before seeing Karen for the first time please make some notes on family health - going back to your parents, grandparents and siblings. This will help Karen to build an accurate picture and help her to tailor her approach.
Please also keep a diary of food eaten for as long as you are able before your appointment - 5 days is ideal but can be shorter if necessary. Receptionist at Ambacare will give/post you a copy of the diary template to fill in or you can download a pdf at the foot of this page.
