REFLEXOLOGY is an ancient and natural form of holistic self-healing that is accomplished through gentle massage of the reflex areas of the hands and feet, bringing about balance and free flowing energy.

What Reflexology is not

Reflexology is not a foot massage, nor a medical or beauty treatment.

What Reflexology is

Reflexology is an ancient and natural form of holistic self-healing that is accomplished through gentle massage therapy of the reflex areas found in the feet and hands.

The Reflexologist applies specific pressure techniques, using the thumbs and fingers on the reflex areas to stimulate and activate the body’s natural ability to rebalance, detoxify and heal itself.

The beginnings of Reflexology are found in the ancient Chinese and Japanese healing arts of acupressure and massage.

It is based on the principle that reflexes in the feet and hands correspond to each organ and structure in the body, and are linked to those organs by energy channels, zones or meridians.

When disorders occur in the body, the corresponding meridians become blocked.  Reflexology is applied in order to stimulate the body to overcome these blockages, allowing the energy to flow freely again.  Congestion, which may have resulted in pain and discomfort, in any part of the body - whether it is an old problem or a new condition - will be apparent in the reflexes and may be relieved through the process.

Holistic Approach

The Holistic Reflexology approach is to understand how the body, mind, spirit, and emotions influence

the health of a person, along with lifestyle and diet.

At its best, a course of Holistic Reflexology restores homeostasis - natural balance - and harmony to the whole person and also brings a generalized feeling of well-being.

Changes we need to make in our life become clearer and easier.

We see the reason to take care of ourselves.  Our spirits may feel more buoyant, life flows a little more smoothly and we may be calmer and more grounded.

Reflexology is an extremely effective complementary therapy - totally holistic, non-invasive, safe and very relaxing.  Reflexology is suitable for everyone - all ages, all states of health and for those in palliative care.

Reflexology Therapy Session

Reflexology is carried out on bare feet - with the client sitting clothed.

It is preferable to wear comfortable clothing and refrain from eating a large meal or consuming alcohol before the therapy session.

A Reflexology session will usually be of 1 hour duration.

At the close of the Reflexology session, most people feel very relaxed.  Some feel the need to rest or sleep, some feel totally rejuvenated and refreshed, and some in-between.  It is important to drink sufficiently - warm water with a squeeze of lemon or lime, or herbal tea to assist the released toxins to be flushed from the system.  A headache may occur if you are not drinking enough.

Be aware that the effects of Reflexology may last up to five days and it is prudent to keep note of how you feel during this time.
